Hi. I'm Charles McGarvey, but you can call me Chaz. This is my personal site devoted to my interests and the things I do. I'm a student of computer science and an  open source software developer. Perhaps one of the best ways to really know a man is to see what software he uses, so here are some of my favorites:

GCC Gentoo Lua
MPD Mutt NetBSD
Openbox tmux Vim

You might assume, from this little box, that I'm an elitist nerd. Okay, guilty as charged. I just really like software that keeps it simple and is good at what it was written to do. As a developer, I'm also known, on occasion, to write my own software for fun and profit. All of my software is released under a permissive open source license without any onerous restrictions or severe distribution limitations (such as those inherent to the GPL; jab!).

When I'm not writing software, I want to be hiking a mountain somewhere with people I like. If I can't do that, I would at least like to be playing video games with the same. I also love God and the study of spiritual things. In fact, I'm actually one of those wacky  Mormons, so watch out. I speak several Filipino dialects, having spent almost two years in the Western Visayas preaching the gospel. Kumusta migs ko sa Bacolod Mission?

Projects

  • The Cheat - The legendary game trainer for Mac OS X!
  • Yoink! - An alien-smashing action game. It's a work in progress.
  • VimCoder - The TopCoder Arena plugin providing Vim support.
  • Older Stuff - This is some pretty old Mac OS X software.

  • Email me at chazmcgarvey@…. If you can't see the rest of my email address, just add the domain name of this site.
  • Or, IM me. My  JID is the same as my email address.
  • I am also sometimes on  irc.freenode.net with the nickname onefriedrice.

I am not on Facebook or Twitter, so don't like me or follow me or any other such nonsense. Oops, some of that elitist nerd creeping out again.
